Product Intern (Summer 2019)

Overview:

The Product Intern is a problem solver. Working alongside Product Managers, Associates, and internal stakeholders, you will identify and understand business problems and propose solutions that when implemented, lead to happier customers. You will also gather high level business requirements, help to creatively crafts and vet solutions, propose feasible functional software requirements based on in-depth business knowledge and user experience design, author deliverables such as user stories and functional specifications, and work closely with Software Engineers and end users to implement and deliver new features and feature sets.  The Product Intern ultimately has the opportunity to work towards strategic ownership of a particular product and/ or feature-set throughout the summer.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work directly with Client Services, Advisor Relations and Software Engineering teams on technology projects that have a direct impact on day-to-day productivity and cost savings
  • Work with Web Design and Marketing teams to build out wireframes and mockups of proposed solutions
  • Works towards in depth system and customer knowledge with the goal of product ownership of specific feature-sets and functions
  • Participate in meetings with multiple stakeholders to identify and prioritize software development and business process improvement initiatives
  • Helps to manage and prioritize a backlog of bug fixes, enhancements, and features for future implementation
  • Develop detailed functional specifications and user stories for stakeholder review
  • Gather feedback and approval from relevant stakeholders pre-development and post-development via product demonstrations
  • Assist in project management of all product integration/ launches /changes throughout implementation

What You Have:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, graduating between December 2019 and June 2020, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to build strong relationships with and coordinate projects across a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Strong XLS skills. Familiarity with relational databases is a plus
  • An understanding of Web site usability, user experience, and a high level of empathy for internal and external product users
  • Proficient in current web and social media usability trends with the ability to apply real life experience to solution building
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies is a plus
  • Must be detail-oriented, extremely organized, and have exceptional writing and communicating skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
