Meet Teckla! Teckla is a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, Campus at Guidepoint. Teckla graduated from Eckerd College where she studied Anthropology and Ancient Studies. Outside of work, Teckla enjoys reading, embroidery, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and watching reality TV!

Why did you pursue a career in recruiting?

Teckla: Recruitment was honestly something I fell into. One of my first jobs after college was recruiting and I realized it drew upon a lot of my skills and passions!

What’s your favorite aspect of the recruiting process?

Teckla: I love calling candidates and giving them their offers. I also love seeing the people I hired in the office and getting great feedback from the teams they work with!

What does a typical interview process and timeline look like?

Teckla: After the application review you will have a 20 minute virtual screening call with a member from the Talent Acquisition Team. Then we send your profile over to the hiring teams who review your resume and my notes. If they are interested in speaking with you we will schedule a “Super Day” of interviews. This usually is 3-4 30 minute interviews with representatives from the different teams. After your last interview you have a short break and then will be sent a mock assignment, which is a sample client request that you need to research into and find examples of experts you would bring to that client. The mock assignment is a great peek into what you would be doing day to day as a Client Service Associate. We would potentially move to an offer from there!

What’s something that typically stands out to you when you’re screening a candidate?

Teckla: People who are engaged and authentic. I also love to see that people have done their research about Guidepoint and can demonstrate why they want to work here.

Why did you apply to Guidepoint?

Teckla: I applied because I wanted a new opportunity where I could grow and develop my skills as a recruiter. I was also interested in looking at private sector jobs and working in a more fast-paced environment where I could take on more responsibilities!

How would you describe Guidepoint company culture?

Teckla: Guidepoint is definitely a young and social company with a more laidback vibe compared to come other corporate companies. I like how open, collaborative, and team work oriented it is!

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone thinking about applying to Guidepoint?

Teckla: Make sure you do your research about Guidepoint and the role you are interviewing for! Also be yourself and show off all the amazing experiences and skills you have!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

Teckla: I lived in Zambia for 2 years as a Peace Corps Volunteer and I know how to speak one of their languages, Chitonga!
