Meet Jose! Jose is a Vice President of Client Service here at Guidepoint in our Düsseldorf office. He was born and raised in the Canary Islands and studied Economics at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain) and the University of Jena (Germany). When Jose is not working he enjoys working out, traveling, playing guitar, singing, and he recently started surfing!
Guidepoint: What is the best part of working on the Client Service team?
Jose: For me, the human part is crucial. Communicating all day long with people (colleagues, experts & clients) makes the job very enjoyable.
Guidepoint: What do you find most interesting about working in the expert network industry?
Jose: The variety of topics that we work with. On one hand, after working several times on the same topic, you become an “expert” in such a field. On the other hand, you get to know many interesting and niche industries that might be huge in the future.
Guidepoint: What has been one of your biggest accomplishments so far in your career?
Jose: Balancing out work and personal life. I have always followed the motto “Work hard and play harder,” but since I became a father, it´s more like “work hard and have fun with Noa.”
Guidepoint: Have you ever seen something you’ve worked on reflected in the news? What was it?
Jose: Many, many times, too many to mention just one. A fun fact, and I think this happens to most colleagues, is that when you start working on projects and you walk on the street and see an office from the company “XYZ,” you think, “oh, I had a project from them recently.”
Guidepoint: What’s something you learned unexpectedly while working at Guidepoint?
Jose: There is a lot of hidden talent in the company, and we need to find a place for them to shine.
Guidepoint: What’s the most unique kind of expert you’ve worked with at Guidepoint?
Jose: I have the luck of working with many different unique experts, but I have massive respect for all healthcare professionals, especially during the COVID crisis. Many of them could not participate in consultations because they were very busy saving lives.
Guidepoint: Who is your biggest career inspiration whether internally at Guidepoint or externally?
Jose: My grandma. Despite not being able to go to school, she was an entrepreneur and ran several businesses successfully. She was smart and brave and always thinking about the future.
Guidepoint: Where do you hope your career takes you in the next 5 years?
Jose: My goal is to contribute to the team´s growth, support my colleagues to achieve their goals, and keep growing within the company. I am sure that if we keep working towards those goals, we will get to unexpected places ????
Guidepoint: What would you consider yourself an expert in or at?
